Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs

Murat Nurtleu

He was born on March 11, 1976 in Almaty.

He graduated from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

He started his career in 1998 as an assistant and attache of the State Protocol Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 1999 to 2003, he was attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Malaysia.

From 2003 to 2004, he was Second Secretary of the Department of Asia and Africa, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 2004 to 2006, he was an adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

In 2007, Head of the Secretariat of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

From 2007 to 2011, he was Deputy Head; Head of the Office of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2011, he was Ambassador at Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2011, he was Director of the Asia and Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2011 to 2014, he was Minister Counselor at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Geneva (Swiss Confederation).

From 2014 to 2016, he worked as Deputy Head of the Center for Foreign Policy of the Presidential Administration.

From 2016 to 2019, he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Finland, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Estonia part-time.

From 2019 to 2021, he was Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2021 to 2022, he was deputy head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2022, he was First Deputy Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2022 to 2023, he was the head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

On April 3, 2023, by the Decree of the President he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On February 6, 2024 by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan he was appointed Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

As part of his duties, he coordinates the issues of:

  • implementation of foreign economic policy and promotion of the international image of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
  • attracting foreign investment, improving the investment climate;
  • expansion of trade and economic, financial, scientific and technical, cultural relations with foreign countries;
  • international cooperation in the area of migration;
  • activities of intergovernmental commissions with foreign countries.
