The Alatau City Investment Roundtable was held in London, initiating a European roadshow to attract international capital for the development of Alatau City. The Kazakhstani delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev.
The event was attended by representatives of more than 70 companies, investment funds, banks, and expert organizations, including JPMorgan Chase, AstraZeneca, BP, and Brookfield Asset Management. Participants were presented with the concept of Alatau City development, the city's investment opportunities, prospective infrastructure projects, and mechanisms for foreign capital participation in their implementation.
Addressing the participants, Kanat Bozumbayev emphasized the strategic importance of Alatau City, implemented at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
“It is no coincidence that we are launching our roadshow here in London, one of the world's leading financial and legal hubs. The United Kingdom is our strategic partner. Alatau City is a national project being implemented at the initiative of the Head of State. We are creating a new center for business, finance, technology, and logistics, which is set to become an important link in economic interaction between Europe and Asia,” Kanat Bozumbayev noted.
During the roundtable, Alisher Abdykadyrov, Chief Executive Officer of the Special Management Organization "Alatau City Authority", presented the main directions of the city's development, including the creation of modern utility and transport infrastructure, as well as industrial, business, and logistics zones.
The international engineering and consulting firm Arup familiarized participants with approaches to spatial planning and urban infrastructure development. Baiterek Holding presented instruments for financing investment projects.
One of the key advantages of Alatau City is the special legal regime established by the Constitutional Law of May 8, 2026. It provides for the application of the principles of the law of England and Wales, modern investment protection mechanisms, and the formation of a predictable business environment.
During an expert session featuring international law firms Norton Rose Fulbright, Reed Smith, and Boies Schiller Flexner, participants discussed legal mechanisms for attracting investment, public-private partnerships, international arbitration, digital asset regulation, and commercial dispute resolution. The prospects of creating a specialized Alatau City Investment Court applying the principles of English law were also reviewed.
As part of the business program, talks were held with the management of the London Stock Exchange, Brookfield Asset Management, Société Générale, J.P. Morgan, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The parties considered opportunities for attracting institutional capital, utilizing project finance instruments, and involving international financial institutions in the development of the city's energy, transport, and utility infrastructure.
Following the Alatau City Investment Roundtable, 9 agreements were signed with international partners representing a total investment potential of $1.3 billion. The agreements cover the financing of infrastructure and investment projects, the development of educational and medical infrastructure, as well as the expansion of international cooperation. In particular, provision has been made to explore projects for opening educational institutions with the participation of the University of Exeter, Brighton College, and Repton Group. Cooperation with AstraZeneca and Crescent Meditours encompasses the development of medical infrastructure, investment attraction, and scientific exchange.
Currently, the Alatau City investment portfolio includes 67 projects valued at approximately $6.9 billion, the implementation of which is expected to create around 55 thousand jobs. In parallel, 28 utility and transport infrastructure projects worth 35.3 billion tenge are being implemented in the city, covering power supply, water supply, gas supply, sewerage networks, and highways.
The investment roadshow will continue with talks involving representatives of UK government bodies, financial institutions, and strategic partners. The next stage of the European roadshow will feature investment meetings in Germany.
