By instruction of the Head of State, Government is developing draft Comprehensive Plan for Animal Husbandry Development

At the Government session, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov reported on the main indicators of the sector’s development for the first nine months of the current year.

According to the Vice Minister, during the first nine months of this year, the gross agricultural output increased by 4.4%, compared to the planned 2.3%. This growth was achieved due to an increase in crop production by 5.2% and in livestock production by 3.4%.

“Unprecedented state support provided this year enabled agricultural enterprises to fully implement modern agricultural technologies, which in turn ensured production growth in the sector against the backdrop of a high base from last year,” he said.

Harvesting work in crop production is nearing completion. According to the report, a total of 15.1 million hectares of grain crops have been harvested, yielding 24.6 million tons of grain with an average productivity of 16.3 centners per hectare. In addition, about 2.2 million tons of oilseeds, 2.7 million tons of potatoes, 3.2 million tons of vegetables, and 2.3 million tons of melons were collected. Out of the 422 thousand tons of subsidized diesel fuel allocated for harvesting, 315 thousand tons, or 75% of the plan, have been delivered. The harvested grain and the significant expansion of oilseed areas will allow achieving the planned crop production targets.

Positive dynamics in the sector are also ensured by the performance of livestock production. Over the first nine months of the year, meat production in slaughter weight increased by 2.6%, and cow milk production by 5.7%. The number of livestock also increased: cattle by 1.1%, horses by 6.4%, camels by 4.5%, and poultry by 6.5%.

“At present, for the further systematic development of the sector, by instruction of Head of State K. Tokayev, the Ministry is developing a Comprehensive Plan for the Development of Animal Husbandry,” Azat Sultanov said.

He noted that the planned annual targets will be achieved through the implementation of this plan.

According to the Vice Minister, the sector already has a working program for lending working capital to feedlots, which will be expanded to include commercial farms, poultry farms, and other areas, with up to 80% guarantees through the “Damu” Fund.

Furthermore, it is planned to expand the range of credit products for livestock farmers, including financing for investment purposes. Since the beginning of the year, food production in the sector has increased by 9.8% and beverage production by 8.1%.

“Preferential lending of working capital to processing enterprises will continue. About 44 billion tenge have been allocated for these purposes this year. To date, 75 projects totaling 29.8 billion tenge have been financed,” the Deputy Minister reported.

Thus, the Ministry is taking all necessary measures to achieve the planned targets.
