Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Federal Minister of Economics and Energy of Germany Kateryna Reiche.
Issues of further development of cooperation in the areas of economy, investment, industry, energy, transport logistics, and critical minerals were discussed.

“For Kazakhstan, Germany is one of the key trade, economic and investment partners in the European Union. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev attaches great importance to cooperation with Germany. In 2025, the volume of mutual trade reached $4.4 billion, having increased by 9.5% compared to the previous year. In the upcoming period, we face the task of ensuring the transformation of traditional trade and investment interaction between our countries into more developed industrial and technological cooperation. We are interested in taking industrial cooperation to a new level through production localization, technology transfer and training of highly qualified personnel,” Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov emphasized.
In this direction, the experience of CLAAS and Horsch companies in the field of agricultural machinery in Kazakhstan was noted, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the phased production localization model. A similar model can be extended to other sectors of industry.
Federal Minister of Economics and Energy Kateryna Reiche positively assessed the dynamics of Kazakhstan’s development and noted significant potential for expanding bilateral economic cooperation. The German side expressed interest in further development of practical interaction with Kazakhstan in areas of mutual interest.

“Our countries are linked by long-standing and strong cooperation. It is important to develop industrial cooperation and create new production facilities here in Kazakhstan. German companies are actively investing in Kazakhstan’s economy, but I am convinced that this is far from the limit. The potential of our interaction is much broader, and we can achieve much more – in the interests of the economies and states of our countries. Kazakhstan today is the leading economy of the region. The development that your country has gone through is truly very impressive. In addition to classical industry, you are working on artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the creation of a digital state. Our partnership covers a wide range of areas,” Kateryna Reiche noted.
Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to continue joint work on expanding investment cooperation and launching new projects between Kazakhstan and Germany.
For reference: For January–April 2026, the volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Germany reached $1.4 billion, which is 5.9% more than the figure for 2025. In total, since 2005, about $7.8 billion of German investments have been attracted to Kazakhstan. Last year, investments from Germany increased by 28.5% and amounted to $700 million. More than 1,100 operating enterprises with German capital are operating in the country, and 23 joint investment projects are being implemented.
