Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin met with Gianantonio Tramè, founder of TRAMITE GROUP and authorized representative of the Kazakhstan–Italy Chamber of Commerce. The main focus of the meeting was an initiative by Italian investors to establish an integrated agricultural supply system to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Gianantonio Tramè presented TRAMITE GROUP as a leader in Italy’s food industry with over 30 years of experience working with top European retail chains. The company has initiated the creation of an Italo-Kazakh Trade Consortium and Investment Fund, to be registered at the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC). The project anticipates an initial capital of €500 million, with a projected annual turnover of €1 billion. Ownership of the fund is expected to be split 51% for Italian venture investors and SIMEST (a subsidiary of CDP Group) and 49% for Kazakhstan’s Baiterek Holding.
The project aims to build a robust logistics and investment platform that will provide Kazakh producers with access to European and global markets. Exported goods will include grain, meat, vegetable oils, legumes, dairy products, dried fruits, vegetables, and fruit purées. The distribution network is expected to cover the EU, Russia, CIS countries, China, Southeast Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the United States.
TRAMITE GROUP proposes a comprehensive cooperation strategy involving investments in Kazakhstan’s agribusiness infrastructure, long-term procurement contracts with leading European companies such as Parmafood, Inalpi, Sterilgarda, and Zanetti, and joint supply chain management. According to Tramè, seven major Italian food companies have already expressed interest in localizing their production in Kazakhstan.
A key project discussed was the Shardara Export-Oriented Agro-Industrial Cluster in the Turkistan region, led by AGRIQA Asia LLP. Between 2024 and 2028, €200 million will be invested in the project. It includes the construction of a 22-hectare greenhouse complex, a fruit processing plant, an alfalfa pellet production facility, a tomato processing factory, and the development of an agro-division utilizing 8,000 hectares of land for drip irrigation.
Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin emphasized the government's commitment to fostering a favorable investment climate in Kazakhstan.
"The Government of Kazakhstan is fully committed to creating optimal conditions to ensure the success of investment projects. We express our full support for the initiative to establish a Kazakhstan–Italy investment fund focused on developing the agribusiness sector. This project is a significant step toward boosting our export potential and strengthening economic ties. I am confident that our cooperation will become a model of fruitful international partnership based on mutual benefit and strategic trust," Zhumangarin stated.
To deepen cooperation, the Deputy Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan to promptly organize a trade and economic mission that will bring together Kazakh and Italian producers to further discuss and implement joint projects.
