Kazakhstan’s children should know at least three languages - Kazakh, Russian and English, therefore trilingual education should be implemented in all schools, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Dariga Nazarbayeva said at the enlarged session of the Ministry of Education and Science.

"To implement trilingual education in schools, all the population needs to learn the English language, beginning from heads of educational institutions (...) to each citizen of the country. Everyone should know perfectly at least three languages: Kazakh - state language, Russian and English," Deputy Prime Minister said.

She noted that "Today the greatest share of knowledge in the world is in English. Textbooks, monographs, the Internet is in English. Today, the progress is inconceivable without the English language"

"In the near future, we all need to know Chinese language. Our great south neighbor, China is growing at huge rates (...) China is our friend, our trading partner and the biggest investor in economy of our country. This means that tomorrow our children will be in demand at plants in industry and agriculture,” Nazarbayeva said.

According to her, new investments come from Western Europe and our Asian partners.

"It is not possible to make a successful career without language skills. This is a difficult, but it is very interesting challenge," she concluded.
