The main events of the week from Feb. 24 to 29, 2020

  • On Feb. 25, at the regular Government session chaired by the Prime Minister Askar Mamin, the state’s readiness for the upcoming flood period and measures to improve the business climate were considered. The prime minister instructed to organize round-the-clock monitoring of the prevention of overflows on highways of republican significance and on railway tracks, to ensure the passage of flood waters through culverts. It is necessary to create the appropriate headquarters, to ensure the full readiness of forces and means, including public warning systems, for possible emergency situations. Regarding the improvement of the business climate, the head of government instructed by July 1, 2020, to complete work on the implementation of the Government for Business project, which will simplify the procedures for obtaining state support measures for entrepreneurs on the basis of the Single Window principle.
  • On Monday, the prime minister of Kazakhstan received the Chair of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich, who took up his duties on Feb. 1, 2020. The parties discussed the preparation of the draft Strategic Directions for the Development of Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025, the improvement of the unified base of technical regulation within the framework of the EAEU, as well as issues of compliance with the EEC regulations.
  • On Feb. 25-26, Mamin paid a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan. In Tashkent, the prime minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan met with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the negotiations, a wide range of issues for the further development of bilateral cooperation was discussed. In Urgench, Mamin held talks with the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov. On the same day, the head of the Kazakh Government took part in the II Forum of Interregional Cooperation of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Following the forum, 52 documents on the development of economic cooperation were signed.
  • On Feb. 27, as part of the working trip to the Atyrau region, Mamin held a meeting on the development of the fishing industry of Kazakhstan, visited the Atyrau sturgeon fish factory, Imeni Amangeldy LLP and Caspian Royal Fish LLP, where he got acquainted with the development of fisheries in the region. He also visited enterprises producing equipment and components for the oil and gas industry – Caspian Plus LLP, International Pipeline Structure Solutions Caspian, Caspian Contractors Trust Atyrau, and visited the exhibition of achievements of the fishing industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In conclusion, the head of government held a meeting on the construction of an associated gas processing plant at the Kashagan field.
  • On Friday, Mamin took part in the plenary session of the Samruk Business Forum dedicated to the topic of supporting domestic producers. Within the framework of the forum, the prime minister got acquainted with the exhibition of products of domestic producers in the fields of digital technologies, mechanical engineering, chemical, furniture, textile, footwear, industry, equipment for the electric power industry and the oil and gas industry, and an award ceremony was held for leading domestic companies in the nominations Best Service Company, Reliable Supplier, etc.
  • On the same day, a board meeting of Baiterek National Management Holding JSC was held, where decisions were made to reorganize two subsidiaries and issue the sixth bond program.
